Meet The Prep Team

anna-maria

My name is Anna-Maria and I am a volunteer of AFS Germany since the return from my exchange year to Southern Brazil (2004/2005). Since then I have been involved in almost all levels of AFS Germany (camps, chapter president, active in projects, training, ...). In the past year I also discovered the European level of volunteering, taking part in an EFIL study session and in the Worldoscope project.

I am very passionate about training and about this years topic "Creativity and Innovation" - so I am really happy to be on the team and can't wait to meet you in Turkey. :)

My name is Eva, I am 24 and I come from Prague, Czech Republic. I went to Norway with AFS and after coming back it was a clear decision to become a volunteer. And now I can say, it was definitely the right step to do.

I have been a trainer for some years now and I was lucky to participate on the VSS 08 in Vigy, France. I loved it, so here am I back, this time as a prep-team member. I am looking forward to this challenge very much! When I don't volunteer for AFS, you can find me either in the library studying International Relations or running, biking and hiking in the woods. See you in Turkey in 2009:)!

cemre

I am Cemre Ak'in from Turkey, I was an exchange student in San Cristobal, Venezuela in 2001-2002. Since my return I have been involved with AFS almost every day of my life. I was in so many orientation camps that I have lost count, I was the Head of Istanbul Hosting Committee from 2005 to 2007. During all these, I realised that the favorite part of volunteer work for me is being in our National Trainers Team.

Since July 2007, I have been working at AFS Turkey office as the Hosting & Training Coordinator. Last year I was in Vigy as a trainer and since we came back from France we have been getting prepared for 2009. I am very excited to be in the Prep Team for VSS09, even though a long and tiring period awaits us.

¿So, are you coming to Turkey next year?

My name is Rasmus and I am 21 and I am from Denmark. I have been a volunteer in AFS in Denmark since my return from my exchange in Minnesota, USA in 2003/2004. My passion in AFS has been the sending side, which I have been working with since I became a volunteer.

These last couple of years, AFS has broadened my horizon as to volunteer work. I became part of the EFIL pool of trainers this past summer and this will be my first EFIL experience where I am not a participant.
I was a participant on the VSS in Vigy last year, and I am very excited to be part of the prep team for the VSS in Turkey '09. We have a great challenge ahead of us trying to meet the expectations from last years VSS but we will do our best.

Hello again, my name is Iza and I have a pleasure to work on the preparations of the Summer Summit for the second year in row, as the representative of the EFIL Secretariat in Brussels. Although I am not an AFS volunteer, I feel very attached to the idea of our yearly European volunteer gathering: first, because I witnessed the birth of this great project and second, because of my many own volunteer years.

Before joining EFIL 2 years ago, I was active in a European student organisation, also organising training and sharing activities for volunteers. Now, as the Training Co-ordinator, I enjoy meeting AFS volunteers from all over Europe and I am really happy that again so many of them will gather this summer in Turkey!
